This week's trend question: Are you digging fallen angels?
Confession: I've read two fallen angel books, both YA. With one of them, I enjoyed the plot, but hated the characters. With the other, I hated the plot, but enjoyed the characters. Who said I was difficult?
I know these books will continue to get published, and I'm all for them. As long as writers remember to keep a healthy balance between story and character, I'm down.
Now it's your turn, buddies. Love 'em or hate 'em?
I'm all for fallen angels as long as the story is good and I love the characters. If those elements are missing then it doesn't matter what creatures are used. So no, I do not think you are being difficult in the slightest!
ReplyDeleteI know this isn't a book and it's slightly off topic and it was made in (ahem) 1987 but the film Wings of Desire is just brilliant. I don't know if it was based on a book or short story but this was the best film about an angel - not quite fallen more fed up with humans and then falling for one! :-)Lovely and very very sad.

I love the concept of fallen angels, but still haven't found 'that one book' that really makes me love reading about them. Hopefully one of the upcoming releases will do it for me. (:
ReplyDeleteI'm entitled to say I enjoy Fallen Angels stories, because of A) Supernatural (anyone who watches that brilliant show knows how much of an element they are to the plot) and B) I actually involve the idea in my YA/urban fantasy series. They're pretty cool though, as long as they're not too blasphemous.

ReplyDeleteI LOVED 'Fallen' by kind of didn't love 'Hush Hush', which is weird but...oh well. I think there's only so much more that can be done with angels - but as long as there's a clear balance between fantasy and religious commentary, it's all good :)
I'm not quite into the fallen angels yet. Maybe after I finish the book I am currently reading. =)
