So Fess Up Fridays are all about publishing trends on my blog.
Not today.
For the Zero Trends Edition, I wanted to fess up about something totally different--fear.
Yes, peeps. I am afraid. Why?
I've just started my Master's degree in Literature.
My latest WIP idea, as I mentioned yesterday, is in a genre I've never explored.
I have become a plotter for the first time e-vah.
My critique group and I launched a blog to inspire awesomeness in writers.
You're probably wondering why these things creep me out. Well, here's why: I'm afraid of coming up short.
Of not being able to stay afloat in my Master's.
Of totally bombing The Unexplored Genre.
Of not finishing the outline I plan to start next month (after all the research is done).
Of not bringing enough awesome to a complete stranger's life.
I know I'll get over it, but I figured saying it aloud would speed up the recovery process. Let's hope it works :)
How about you? Any fears eating you alive this week?
Awwwwww it's good to have these fears out so you can square up to them find a stick and beat them senseless!! Good luck!! (I for one think you're gonna do FABULOUS with your new genre writing, outlining and MA!!).
ReplyDeleteMy fear is that the weekend will be over very quickly!! Booo!
Take care

Oh, only about a million. I totally get where you're coming from. Good luck with all you do -- once you make it, you'll look back and wonder why you were scared.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! Good luck with the masters! I'm starting school in a few weeks. I'm hoping to stay afloat too. I'm sure you will do great! Keep us posted. =)
ReplyDeleteMasters degree wow! Good luck with it, I think that's wonderful. Great post!
ReplyDeleteAmparo, you are MADE OF awesome! No fears! Okay, it's perfectly natural to have fears, and yes, I have a few of my own.
ReplyDeleteAt my family reunion we had a chat about updates and goals, and I announced that my goal this coming year is to get published. (Like they haven't heard that before). :-) Yeah, I'm afraid of failing. But I know I've failed much harder before and it turned out for the best. Failure is not as scary to me as it once was. So I guess sometimes a little failure can be an enabling thing.
Good luck with your goals. As far as OA, you are rockin the blog! LOVED your post today! http://operationawesome6.blogspot.com/2010/09/why-i-in-writer-sucks.html
I am afraid that I won't be able to write all of my ideas. I have so many ideas in different genres, I feel like I just won't be any good at the ones I feel passionately about.
