Fess Up Friday: Flipping The Script

No trend questions this week, folks. In fact, I've decided to not always feature them. Spice things up a bit :)

So. Today, I'm fessing up about something else.

My question: are you afraid of change?

Confession: routine is my happy place. Schedules, plans... me likes them. Throw in something unexpected, or something that takes me off course, and I'm stumped.

But only for a little while.

Whether you're writing an urban fantasy and come up with an idea for a dystopian, or you've been taking the same bus to Wherever, USA and it stops going down your route, change can be scary. The one thing you have to remember is this: it's going to happen anyway, so you might as well deal with it. And you're only going to get stronger after it happens.

I'm trying to deal with the change that came out left field right now, actually. The next few days are going to be full of moments where I crease my forehead and think harder than usual. In the end, I'll get a fresher perspective on life... and a headache.

So tell me: does change scare the bejeezus out of you, like it does with me?

  1. I am a routine kind of gal. Mostly. I do like a little change, like trying a new smoothie flavor. Or some spur of the moment things, like if the husband says, "Let's fly to Jackson Hole, WY this week!" Okay, so he hasn't done that yet - but I am totally ready for that kind of change if he ever does
    Have a great weekend,

  2. Holy yes! Change freaks me out a lot! Of course, it can be really exciting too but I'm a creature of habit so change has a tendency to mess with my head.

    Glad I'm not alone! :o)

  3. As I'm an avid panster I expect lots and lots o of changes even while revising my revisions!! LOL!! Some changes are not right, some are downright depressing but every so often one or two will hit me across the head and knock be back for six. But only very rarely!

Good luck with your changes - may they always be positive and lovely! Take care

  4. Change does scare me but I've been trying to do things out of my comfort zone more and more the last couple of years.

    Good luck with your changes!

  5. When I was younger, I hated change. I literally dreaded when the teacher re-arranged the desks. But lately things have been changing on a daily basis, and it seems every time I make a plan something comes along and messes it up. I'm getting better at accepting it and maybe even liking it. A little. I hope that whatever is changing for you works out for the best!

  6. Change and me do not go hand in hand. I try to go with the flow, but for me it's quite the struggle!

  7. Yeah, I don't like change. It took me a long time to realize that I don't like changes in my routine or surprises. I'm not really a spur of the moment person. The Man loves his own routine but also enjoys pulling me out of mine. It humors him. So I'm getting a little better.

  9. I'm definitely one of those "just give me a second to adjust" type of people - but life is much more exciting when you dive right in.
