May I Recommend...

Based on the answers of my first ever Fess Up Friday, most of you are sick of Twilight, but not of vampires. (And Lydia hated Wicked Lovely, which made me smile!).

If you ARE one of those sick of vampires, leave before your eyes burn!!!

Why? 'Cause I've got a vamp book recommendation for ya!

Trust me, I wouldn't pimp something I'm not willing to read.

Here's the blurb:

First, the unthinkable: a security breach at a secret U.S. government facility unleashes the monstrous product of a chilling military experiment. Then, the unspeakable: a night of chaos and carnage gives way to sunrise on a nation, and ultimately a world, forever altered. All that remains for the stunned survivors is the long fight ahead and a future ruled by fear—of darkness, of death, of a fate far worse.

As civilization swiftly crumbles into a primal landscape of predators and prey, two people flee in search of sanctuary. FBI agent Brad Wolgast is a good man haunted by what he’s done in the line of duty. Six-year-old orphan Amy Harper Bellafonte is a refugee from the doomed scientific project that has triggered apocalypse. He is determined to protect her from the horror set loose by her captors. But for Amy, escaping the bloody fallout is only the beginning of a much longer odyssey—spanning miles and decades—towards the time and place where she must finish what should never have begun.

Sounds familiar yet fresh, right? I'm looking forward to see if Cronin lives up to the hype.

Do you have any book recommendations for me? Feel free to share!

  1. :D I'm not too fond of vampires, but this is definitely one I'm looking forward to. (I haven't read an adult novel in a while.)

  2. I don't like vampires either but this kind of reminded me of the movie Daybreakers which I surprisingly loved, so this could work for me. Sounds really interesting!

  3. Hmm, this looks really interesting. I like the blurb at least. Thanks for the recommendation (though I'm wondering if I should be thanking you because my list of books I want seems to be never-ending all ready and on a student budget....)

    Have a great day!

  6. Ooooh!! This sounds good!!! Kinda like Stephen King's Firestarter without the vampires! I like this very much.

Thanks for the info - will keep a look out of this book.

May I recommend - Carpe Jugulum by Terry Pratchett? It's a scream! :-)

    Take care

  7. I've not heard of this one. I'll add it to my list. Have you read Day Watch, Night Watch and Twilight Watch?? It's a Russian vampire series. At least, I think it's Russian. I'm not positive on that one. I've not read it but it's high on my list and it's supposed to be fantastic.

  8. Great recommendations, Kitty and Pal!! I've actually heard of the Watch trilogy, but never of Carpe Jugulum. Both sound right up my alley, though. I'll be sure to check them out.
